Dutch confidence in the news has fallen

About the research

For the survey, respondents in the Netherlands 2003 completed the questionnaire between 24 January and 8 February 2022. The survey is representative of Dutch people aged 18 and older with access to the internet.

Recent figures from Statistics Netherlands show that 97 percent of the Dutch population has internet access at home, ie almost the entire population.

By “trust in news,” the researchers mean that people believe the news is reliable and credible. In the Digital News Report not only trust in the news in general is monitored, but also trust in the different news brands.

Previous research has shown that trust in a news brand is often related to trust in the news delivered by that news brand.
