Swiss († 35) killed on vacation in the Caribbean – perpetrator convicted
The Swiss Andreas L. was killed in February 2021 in the Dominican Republic. The perpetrator: a local. On a date, the man attacked L., as he claims. Now the man has been convicted.
His vacations in the Dominican Republic ended in death. In February 2021, Andreas L.* († 35) was found lifeless under the bed of a hotel room in the city of Sosúa. At first the circumstances were unclear.
But in the course of the investigation, the tracks led to Lantigua G.**. The hotel’s security guard was arrested. The local is said to have had a sex date with the Swiss, local media reports.
The Dominican attacked the Swiss. First with a violent blow to the head, then G. is said to have strangled the 35-year-old. G. then tried to cover up the crime.
Court imposes maximum sentence for murder of Schweizer
As the public prosecutor reports, he stole the equivalent of almost 1,400 francs from the hotel safe, hid the Swiss corpse under the bed and threw several objects into the sea.
But his plan didn’t work out. The police tracked him down. Now the Dominican has been tried, as reported by local media. The verdict: 30 years in prison. maximum penalty. (jmh)
