DuckDuckGo promises users special privacy on the Internet because it does not collect or store data about search queries, page views and purchases. The search engine works in all major browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge and others), as well as iOS and Android.
Search traffic increased 55% over the year. Since early 2021, DuckDuckGo has become the second most popular mobile system in the US, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands, according to Wikipedia and StatCounter. However, compared to Google, whose share in the US exceeds 94%, DuckDuckGo traffic is still small: in the US the share is 3.09%, in Canada – 1.72%, in Australia – 1.86%, in the Netherlands – 1.92 %.
The company said that DuckDuckGo has been making a profit since 2014, in 2020 revenue exceeded $ 100 million, no profit was reported.
In the report, the company announced for the first time that at the end of 2020 it raised more than $ 100 million from external investors, including from OMERS Ventures, Thrive, GP Bullhound, Impact America Fund, Tim Berners-Lee and others.
In 2021, the search engine launched an advertising campaign on billboards, radio and television in the United States, and then will conduct it in Europe and other countries of the world.
In a few weeks, DuckDuckGo will bring new privacy features: the beta version of DuckDuckGo Email Protection for email privacy, tracking blocking in Android apps, and a new mobile app that can be used as a browser.
