Dubai has the deepest diving pool in the world, and it’s a submerged city

Deep Dive Dubai entered the Guinness World Records for the deepest swimming pool in the world with a depth of 60.02 meters. The previous record holder, 45 meters deep, was Deepspot, located in Poland.

Located just 15 minutes from downtown Dubai, the pool will be open to the public at the end of July. Abdulla Bin Habtoor, of Deep Dive Dubai, told euronews: “We wanted to give everyone the opportunity to explore their own limits by diving into an amazing underwater experience that is located in the middle of the city.”

Jarrod Jablonski, director of Deep Dive Dubai, said that to reach a natural dive site of this depth it would normally have taken a day’s drive from Dubai. Abdulla Bin Habtoor also added: “What we aspire to do with Deep Dive Dubai is to make diving accessible to all visitors to the city or residents of the city.”

In this episode of Adventures, Evan Bourke from euronews participated in a “discovery dive” suitable for people with no diving experience. However, divers of all skill levels can train in the pool and gain diving qualifications. On site, there are classrooms and a 12-seater hyperbaric chamber for decompression issues, making it an ideal place to progress in diving.
