Hans Peter Doskozil does not want to comment on the criticism of SPÖ party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner. Burgenland’s governor wants to focus on the upcoming Salzburg elections.
The Burgenland SPÖ state party leader Hans Peter Doskozil does not want to take part in the discussion about the state of the federal party. At the request of the APA, his office said on Tuesday that one should now concentrate on the Salzburg state elections. He also does not comment on the recent statements by Pamela Rendi-Wagner – “public attacks by the federal party chairmen”.

Rendi-Wagner shoots against Doskozil
In an ORF interview in “ZiB2” on Monday, SPÖ leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner criticized the “interfering fire” of her party colleague in Burgenland, Hans Peter Doskozil. She wants next week at the latest…
Doskozil focuses on the Salzburg state elections
“We agree with Salzburg’s top candidate David Egger that only a successful state election in Salzburg counts,” it said. Salzburg votes on April 23rd. As in the past few months, Doskozil does not want to discuss the federal party any further. This also applies to “the public attacks by the federal party leaders”. All those responsible are now required to support the people of Salzburg.
Everything about the Salzburg state election
Rendi-Wagner with sharp criticism
Rendi-Wagner explained in the “ZiB2” on Monday evening, among other things, that from her point of view the “interfering fire” from Burgenland is the SPÖ’s big problem. She also openly criticized the Burgenland governor.
On Tuesday, Rendi-Wagner wanted to focus on this at her press conference on Women’s Day and was content with a few short answers to relevant questions, since she had already commented on everything the day before. The fact that she was often the target of attacks because of her gender did not want to be directly affirmed, but she added that she was often told that this was the case. This was followed by women’s chairwoman Eva Maria Holzleitner. She had never known of such a long period of scolding in her own party.
The next course in the SPÖ should be set at a presidium, which will probably take place next week. Whether there will actually be an early party congress remains to be seen.
Ludwig stands behind Rendi-Wagner
Vienna’s mayor and SPÖ state party chairman Michael Ludwig confirmed on Tuesday once again that he was behind Rendi-Wagner. This made specifications as to how to continue to discuss – namely that there should be meetings of the decision-making bodies. “I think that’s right too.” All variants, for example in matters of party congress, would be discussed there. In any case, he would support Rendi-Wagner “beyond the upcoming federal party conference,” Ludwig promised at a press conference.
How a vote at a party congress will turn out concretely remains to be seen, he emphasized. “I am not a prophet.” He could only say how he would decide, speaking for the SPÖ Vienna. However, according to his own statements, Ludwig expects that Rendi-Wagner would remain party chairman. “I am convinced that the mood in the other state parties is such that there will be approval here.”
“I don’t want to underestimate the internal party discussion, but I think people have interests that go beyond that,” added Ludwig. The questions and discussions about “ramifications” of the debate in the party are already “a bit unproductive,” he said.
