Erling Haaland was one of the discoveries of the past 2019/20 Bundesliga season. The Norwegian, who was only 19 at the time, immediately hit Borussia Dortmund and scored as he wanted. After his first half year in the Bundesliga, he is certain: “We have the quality to become champions.”

Goalscorer Erling Haaland trusts his team Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming Bungesliga season the championship title. “We also have the quality to become champions, but talking alone is not enough,” said the 20-year-old Norwegian in an interview with “Sport Bild”.

Eight Bayern championships in a row

Most recently, the championship title in 2011 and 2012 did not go to FC Bayern Munich – but to BVB.

Dortmund, says Haaland, has quality, but Bayern Munich also has it. “Bayern’s impressive consistency is impressive,” admitted the center forward, who scored 13 goals in 15 games in his first Bundesliga second half. “In any case, it is my big goal to win the BVB title and to celebrate fantastic successes together with our fans,” added Haaland.

After moving from RB Salzburg for 20 million euros in winter, the first few weeks were not easy for him because he couldn’t train much in the training camp.

Haaland: “Scoring goals is my job”

“But Dortmund invested a lot for a young player like me, and I wanted to prove that I was worth it and that the club made the right decision. Of course, it helped that I scored so many goals in the beginning. But that is my job, “said Haaland.

For the coming season, he mainly plans to score many goals again. “If I win every game thanks to my goals next season, I’m happy – because that would mean that we would be champions,” he joked.

The Norwegian sees the big hype about his person calmly. “I know that I don’t necessarily live the typical life of a 20-year-old. What is important to me is that my friends know that I am the same Erling Haaland as I was a few years ago.” (dpa / hau)
