In a big week for the Thompson family — Klay and the Golden State Warriors celebrated their NBA title with a parade Monday — his brother, Trayce Thompson, was on his way to another team.
The Dodgers have finalized a deal with the Tigers to acquire the 31-year-old outfielder for cash.
Thompson has played for five clubs during parts of six major league seasons, including 107 games with the Los Angeles club from 2016-17, hitting 14 home runs in that stretch. He appeared in six games with the Padres earlier this season, going 1-for-14, before signing a minor league contract with the Tigers.
Thompson has swept the bat to the Triple-A level in 2022, hitting a .305/.365/.721 offensive line with 17 homers in 41 games.
