Do I have to be tested to take the train?

Question from douky

My 16 year old daughter is traveling by train in France, should she be tested?

Hello Douky,

Trains will be affected by the health pass from August. “So it will certainly be in the week of August 2, rather”, specified the Minister for Transport, Jean-Baptiste Djebbari, “we will see the exact date according to the legal date of entry into application of the device”. TERs will not be affected.

The obligation to present a pass to board a train will be valid for users as well as for employees.

On the other hand, the application of this obligation for minors is postponed until August 30.

So, if your granddaughter is traveling on a long-distance train (TGV or Intercités), she will have to present a health pass valid from September only.

As a reminder, the pass can be proof of vaccination, a negative test of less than 48 hours or a positive test attesting to recovery from Covid-19.

Have a good day!
