The researchers analyzed a population of aged cells expressing an elevated level of p21 – an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases and one of the key markers of cell aging. And it became clear to them that cleansing the body of old cells once a month has an effective effect in slowing the development of diabetes, as well as in relieving the symptoms of diabetes that appeared in mice that suffer from excess weight.
