Director misses premiere due to Covid-19 diagnosis

“The Batman” was released a while ago on press stands, including for the Digital appearance and you can check out the review here. Last Tuesday night (1st), the film finally had its world premiere at Lincoln Center in New York. On the red carpet were Robert Pattinson, the film’s star, Zoë Kravitz, the Catwoman, among other actors, but the absence of one of the main actors of the production has long attracted attention at the event: Matt Reeves. The director of DC’s new ‘The Batman’ couldn’t go because he was diagnosed with Covid-19.

By videoconference, the filmmaker explained his absence before the start of the presentation of the film.

“We were taking the film and doing the press tour. Although doubly vaccinated and reinforced, I caught the Covid. The good news is that I’m healthy, I’m fine. But I’m not with you. It’s a big heartache for me because this movie means so much to me. It’s been a five-year journey and I’m so excited that we’re sharing it with you tonight,” Reeves said.

“The Batman” officially hits theaters on March 3. The good national and international reviews enthused the fans and confirmed the feature film in its position of “movie of the year”, as most experts, fans and producers already expected. Predictions, according to Variety, are that the film will reach between $100 million and $125 million in the first three days.

“I want to thank from the bottom of my heart the incredible team with whom we made this film. They are craftsmen, amazing artists… [É] the best team we have ever worked with. I know many of you are here tonight [E] I’m so sad not to be here with you. I would like to thank everyone, name by name, even though I have been informed that this film we made is quite long”, joked the director at the end of his speech.

At nearly 3 hours long, rumors that the film could become a franchise with a few more sequels are already invading social media. During a recent chat with tabloid Fandango, Pattinson revealed that there had already been talk of the new story being a trilogy. Learn more here.
