Did Urquidy make his last appearance with the Astros?

HOUSTON — Who wants a solid starter with postseason experience? The Astros, who appear willing to trade Mexican right-hander Jose Urquidy for outfield, catcher and relief reinforcements, should be called.

Houston has been using a six-man starting rotation and is hoping for the return of right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. soon. Urquidy, who made his eighth straight quality start Thursday in the Astros’ win over the Mariners, would be a key player in acquiring other elements for the “Siderales” roster.

Urquidy is 4-1 with a 2.60 ERA and 0.81 WHIP in his last eight starts, allowing 30 hits and 12 walks in 52.0 innings.

“I see the social networks and if something happens, we’ll see,” said Urquidy about his situation. “I will have the same approach. I would like to continue here for many years, but I know that this is a business”.

The Astros are looking for help to improve their offense. Michael Brantley has been out for more than a month with a right shoulder injury, while outfielder Jake Meyers has hit little since he returned from the disabled list June 24.

“I have to do my job anyway,” Urquidy said. “It’s not my decision. If it happens, I’ll be fine with myself.”
