Former Russian figure skater Katharina Gerboldt shared her expectations of the men’s team’s performance at the European Championships.
In single skating, Russia will be represented by Evgeny Semenenko, Mark Kondratyuk and Andrey Mozalev. Earlier, Mikhail Kolyada withdrew from the tournament, who was injured.
“Injuries are always bad and insulting, but they give others the opportunity to realize themselves, to show their capabilities. Did Kolyada deserve a place in the national team at the Olympics? Since the question has not been raised about replacing it, then yes.
Missing the European Championship will not particularly affect his grades, because if he skates well, then, in principle, he is able to beat many. The only thing, it’s a shame that he is losing a potential title. But this is how fate develops, nothing can be done about it.
The Russian singles have good chances of winning, as our boys have been showing a high level of late, they are starting to approach our girls – they skate more steadily, with more complex content than before. Each of them is ready to compete with everyone and even claim gold, ”said Herboldt.
