The daily The Marseillaise announced Sunday the cessation of activity of the Delko team (Pro Team), due to financial difficulties. Sports management learned of the structure’s disappearance on Friday. Paris-Tours, contested two days later (with a ninth place for Julien Trarieux), was therefore the team’s last race.
Team Delko was born in 2011 and came from VC La Pomme Marseille, an amateur team. After playing at the Continental level (third division) for five seasons, the team benefited in 2016 from the arrival of Delko as main sponsor and entered the Pro Team (second division).
But last year, Frédéric Rostaing, the historic manager, was sidelined by management. The city of Marseille, the Bouches-du-Rhône department and the South region then let go of the team. This season, Team Delko had not participated in Paris-Nice for the first time in eight years.
