The FDP chairman Christian Lindner has made a corona test compulsory for those returning from high-risk vacation areas – and the travelers should bear the costs themselves.
“Binding tests for people at airports shouldn’t be taboo,” said Lindner in a summer interview with the ZDF program “Berlin Direkt”. And: “Anyone who voluntarily goes to a risk area as a tourist will have to accept that they will also pay for this test.” For him, this was “a question of personal responsibility”.
The FDP chief urged Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) to develop a strategy for dealing with vacation returnees at high speed. A national test strategy is needed. “The economic and health consequences of a second wave of infection would not be responsible.” There is a risk of such a second wave – especially from summer travel. “We cannot assume that everyone has actually followed the hygiene and distance rules to which we are used in Germany.”
