Cubs rule Atlanta behind Contreras

ATLANTA — Willson Contreras gave Chicago the lead with an RBI double in the 10th inning, Patrick Wisdom followed with a two-run homer, and the Cubs beat the Atlanta Braves 6-3 on Wednesday night.

Contreras lined a double off the left-field wall off Tyler Matzek (0-1), scoring automatic runner Ian Happ.

After striking out Frank Schwindel, Wisdom unloaded a blast that put the ball into the seats in left-center field for his third home run of the season.

The Cubs bounced back after right-hander Mychal Givens blew a 3-1 lead in the eighth. With two outs, Givens packed the bases with two singles and a walk.

Dansby Swanson tied the game with a two-run single to right field.

David Robinson (1-0) ended the eighth on Ozzie Albies’ grounder and struck out all three of his opponents in the ninth for the win. Rowan Wick gave perfect processing to the tenth inning and booked his first save.

For the Cubs, Venezuelans Rafael Ortega 4-1 with a run scored, Contreras 4-1 with a run scored and one produced.

For the Braves, the Dominican Marcell Ozuna 5-0.
