The Covid-19 pandemic makes it compulsory for educational institutions application of health protocols in force. At theLa Providence Nicolas Barré elementary school, in Mesnil-Esnard, near Rouen (Seine-Maritime), the main rule is to leave the parents outside and return to pick up the children.
Too many people on the sidewalks and on the street
But here it is, the rue de Semilly poses problems according to the parents of the students: “first, the distances between people are not respected. In addition, there are people everywhere on the sidewalk and in the streets, especially on Friday nights. It is dangerous for adults and especially for children, because cars park everywhere and continue to drive more or less quickly, ”explains Céline Cian, president of APEL (Association des Parents d’Élèves de l’École La Providence).
The solution: to roll back the device?
For these volunteers, it would be necessary “first to move back the device a little in the courtyard to avoid the crowd at the gate. Then, block the street during entry and exit times as is done in Rouen and Belbeuf. In addition, the municipal police only come from time to time ”.
Consulted, the mayor Jean-Marc Vennin admits being aware of the request, “but indeed, the municipality of Belbeuf has a decree for this. I do not see how to organize this device several times a day in Mesnil-Esnard. I will see with the municipal police and I will contact the parents’ association ”.
