Covid-19: 324 new cases and 5 deaths recorded

The figures for the Covid-19 epidemic are down slightly in Guadeloupe. According to the latest point from the ARS and the prefecture, Guadeloupe has 324 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, 93 less than the previous week and five new deaths.

On the occasion of the traditional weekly Covid point, the prefecture of Guadeloupe exposed to the population, through a press release, this Wednesday, May 26, 2021, the data that concerns us, taking stock of the health situation and the vaccination campaign

The number of new positive cases, detected in the territory from May 17 to 23, 2021, is 324 cases, against 417 for week 19. The intensive care and medical services of the CHU and CHBT remain under tension.

Five Guadeloupe residents died this week at the CHU, 4 in medical service and 1 in intensive care. The average age of these 4 women and this man is 76 years old. Note that the youngest is about forty years old.

Seven new clusters, including 3 in the professional environment, 2 in the family environment, 1 in a health establishment and 1 in the school environment, were declared in Guadeloupe.

The positivity rate remains stable: it is 6,8% against 7.7% previously.

The incidence rate is 95 per 100,000 inhabitants.

27 people have been declared in Covid intensive care at the CHU, 68 in medical services and 22 and SSR.

The vaccination rate is of the order of 17,56% in Guadeloupe among people over 18 years old. Note that it is 21,50 % in Saint-Martin and 54,97% in Saint-Barthélemy.

The signals are rather positive and the number of cases detected during this week is down slightly. In other words, there is still no clear decline in the epidemic but the results are encouraging according to the Regional Health Agency (ARS).
