The number of people infected with corona in the district of Hof and especially in the Upper Franconian town of Rehau has continued to increase: 48 people have now tested positive for Covid-19. Nevertheless, the all-clear can now be given because the chain of infection has been stopped. Therefore, there is currently no lockdown threat. This was emphasized by District Administrator Oliver Bär and Rehaus Mayor Michael Abraham on Sunday afternoon at a short-term press conference in front of the Hof Health Office.
Hof: Infection chains could be traced
Because 42 of the 48 cases appeared in several large families. In contrast, there have so far been no corona cases in the approximately 700 voluntary tests at the mobile test station in Rehau. “That means that our measures were necessary, but also sufficient,” said the Hof district administrator. Thanks to the extensive tests, it was possible to determine the relationships between the various corona cases and stop the infection chain within a few days.
Five infections after traveling in the Balkans
Health department employees have been personally on site with the extended families in the past few days and have initiated the tests that the collaboration was largely smooth. The police in Rehau are now also helping to check the quarantine. The majority of the 48 infected people showed no symptoms, one person was in the hospital and the other in quarantine at home.
Of the six cases outside the large families in Rehau, five infections could be attributed to trips to the Balkans. The State Health Office in Hof, together with regional doctors, has developed a test concept for those returning from vacation, the Hof district administrator plans to present this week.
