From January to May of this year, the number of claims to banks in the state of Chihuahua increased by 17.4 percent against the same period in 2020.

Banorte, Banregio and Afirme top the list for issues such as unrecognized consumption, according to the National Commission for the Protection and Defense of Users of Financial Services (Condusef).

The agency detailed that among the three institutions they accumulated 384 complaints in the entity in the first 5 months of the year, while in the same period of 2020 there were 327.

At the national level, the Condusef reported that from January to May of this year 11,238 complaints were registered against said financial institutions, which represented 17.3 percent of the total complaints against banks, an increase of 9 percent compared to the same period of 2020.

During the time in question last year, 24,723 claims from Banorte, Banregio and Afirme were settled, which represented 19.7 percent of all complaints against banks.

“In 2021, at the national level, Banregio was the bank that presented the largest increase with 189 percent compared to 2020,” said the agency.

Three states accounted for 40 percent of the claims: Mexico City, with 18 percent; State of Mexico, with 12, and Nuevo León, with 10. Chihuahua was the fifth state with the most complaints.

In all of Mexico, the cause that registered the highest number of complaints was “Unrecognized consumption”, with 26 percent, while “Collection Management” had an increase of 43.5 percent compared to 2020, going from 932 to 1,000. 337 issues.

By product, at the national level the debit card stands out, with 28 percent of claims in 2021, while the savings account was the product that presented the largest increase in 2021, with 68.6 percent, going from 354 to 597 issues.
