Commission investigating the destination of funds delivered to NGOs insists that there was “a robbery” to the state

Deputies of the special commission that investigates the destination of public funds delivered to various NGOs in the country during the previous legislative administrations, insisted this morning that these non-profit entities were actually “fictitious” entities that functioned “to subtract funds from the State ».

The president of the commission, deputy Alexia Rivas and the member Carlos Hermann Bruch, affirmed that the NGOs investigated “were used by Arena and the FMLN to hide the theft of State funds.”

This Monday, the Special Commission resumes work and will provide a report to Salvadorans on the findings detected.

During a television interview, Congresswoman Rivas explained that one of the findings is that the NGOs functioned as “front foundations” to finance political campaigns and for other purposes that had nothing to do with what they said they would do.

“The NGOs were used by the FMLN and Arena to hide the robbery that was taking place. Front foundations were created and the funds were used for campaign and other purposes, ”he assured.

Bruch, for his part, announced that the commission’s report will be presented to the Attorney General’s Office, so that it can proceed according to the law. “As a Salvadoran, I want all those corrupt people who appropriated the funds of the population to pay, but we must make it clear that our competence is to make a report and present it to the Prosecutor’s Office,” he said.

Preliminarily, the Special Commission determined that the traditional political parties that had control in the Legislative Assembly delivered $159 million to NGOs.
