As if had a copywriter Tom Holloway Anticipating the Corona debates, he puts people on the stage with chips in “Singularity”. While they stammer with emojis, their implants, represented by black-clad doubles, communicate independently of the will of their human being. Until it comes to a catastrophe. The last update goes wrong, people are in line. Only a large collective remains of their singularity, i.e. uniqueness.

Actually wanted to Miroslav Srnka create a comic opera. However, the proximity to real existing levels of decline in human existence stifles all laughter. The young Czech cast the endgame of the four characters, reduced to their technical abilities, into a jagged, empty score: intense, but soul-empty music.

The eight great singers of the Munich Opera Studio, four people and their doubles, breathed as much life into the technoid piece as the original allows. They are all “losers” who hold comfort drones in order to at least be able to practice some sensation on the compliant device, desperate people who have lost every term for their condition.

Srnka only needs a 15-piece orchestra for his futuristic panopticon. The only 25 year old Patrick Hahnto experience again soon at “home games” in Graz, the Klangforum Wien guides you calmly and confidently through the finely chiseled score, as if it had previously had nothing but new music on its desk.

Nicolas Brieger gets by with analogue props and the playfulness of his troupe for his entertaining direction. In the worm-eaten universe, that Raimund Bauer Built for him, he turns the utopia of the salvation of mankind through electronics into its opposite. The dystopia of the self-inflicted demise of mankind met with great approval.
