Scientists from China considered the artificial origin of the SARS-CoV-2 virus unlikely. The results of the new study are published in the journal Science China Life Sciences. Xinhua.

It is noted that the study involved more than 20 scientists working in universities and hospitals in the PRC. As a result of the work, they found out that the coronavirus, which caused the pandemic, was able to quickly adapt to the human population. At the same time, the evolution of adaptive capabilities is a gradual and multi-stage process associated with natural selection, the report says.

A virus that adapts well to the environment must be the product of natural selection, the result of “a large number of random mutations over time,” the researchers concluded.

Previously reportedthat the administration of the President of the United States Joe Biden has equal confidence in two theories of the origin of the coronavirus – natural and the leak from a virology laboratory in China.

Prior to this, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus statedthat China was unable to provide enough data on the origins of SARS-CoV-2, and there was no “transparency and cooperation” in this information.
