Chinese car companies want to “ennoble” online car sales in Russia.

Chinese manufacturers plan to start online car sales, bypassing dealers and distributors. Negotiations are currently underway to create such a sales channel between a major car manufacturer and a Russian IT company. This was reported by the Telegram channel Chinese cars, citing a source in the car market.

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers sent a letter to Chinese car manufacturers with an order “in view of the high demand and, in fact, the lack of alternatives for the Chinese car industry in the Russian Federation, to extract maximum profit by intensifying online sales, without the margin of dealers and distributors.” This was reported by the channel Chinese cars, citing a source in the car market.

Against the background of all the restrictions that the Russian car market has faced in recent months due to sanctions, the largest Chinese car manufacturers have stepped up and are looking for partners among banks and IT companies that have experience in online sales in the car segment. According to the source, at least one of the largest car companies is in the final stage of negotiations with a Russian IT company. The parties to the transaction are still unknown.

According to the company’s idea, dealers should have left the issue of cars, for which they would receive a fixed commission, which would correspond to the size of the margin of the sale of the car. The representative office expected that in 2021 at least 150 dealers (out of 190 in Russia at that time) will issue cars that are sold directly.

In the spring of 2021, many car owners noticed that cars were only available on credit in the online showroom on the Hyundai website, and in April, the cars completely disappeared from the website.
