Venezuelan judge Mascimino Márquez ratified this Thursday the prison measure against former opposition deputy Freddy Guevara, detained last Monday in Caracas, reported Voluntad Popular (VP), party of the former legislator.

“After a hearing that lasted all morning, Judge Mascimino Márquez ratifies custodial measure against Deputy Freddy Guevara”VP wrote on his Twitter account.

He added that the court established “as a place of confinement” The Helicoid, a headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) in Caracas.

On the other hand, they highlighted that Guevara “he thanks everyone for their support and ensures that he was always clear about the risk he was running. Send a message to the country: that we continue in the fight for the freedom of Venezuela “.

The lawyers found that “Guevara is physically well, remains firm and strong in his convictions and knows that his struggle and sacrifice will not be in vain “.

The Prosecutor’s Office, which confirmed on Monday that the former parliamentarian was detained by Sebin officials, said Guevara was related to “extremist and paramilitary groups associated with the Colombian Government”.

“This Monday (…) the Public Ministry has requested arrest warrant against Freddy Guevara, who was detained by the Sebin (Intelligence Service) due to his links with extremist and paramilitary groups associated with the Colombian Government”Said the attorney general, Tarek Saab, in a brief message.

Guevara, the brief statement continued, “who has had a public record of participating in acts of violence in the past, will be charged with the crimes of terrorism, attack against the constitutional order, conspiracy to commit a crime and treason”.
