Burgenland’s governor Hans Peter Doskozil announced that corona-positive teachers and doctors have to stay at home.

If possible, those who are asymptomatic in Burgenland can work from home, but are not allowed to come to work in person. In addition to state employees, state teachers, employees of the KRAGES hospitals and nursing homes are also affected.

Vulnerable population groups should be protected

According to Doskozil, this regulation is intended to protect vulnerable population groups from corona. This applies to schools, hospitals and homes, but also to all employees in the local area who could potentially have contact with other people. He considers the “abrupt end” of the quarantine regulation to be questionable, many questions and details are still open, which leads to uncertainty, the governor criticized. Burgenland will therefore prescribe additional measures to protect residents wherever possible. A corresponding decree will come into force next Monday. In the hospitals, the existing test and mask requirement will also remain in place.

He recommends that the municipalities and municipal associations do the same as the country – especially in childcare facilities, in the municipal administration and with the administrative and cleaning staff at the schools, emphasized Doskozil. The same applies to providers of nursing homes, senior citizens’ day centers, facilities for the disabled and mobile care and support.

Doskozil wants to continue to rely on the corona vaccination

The governor wants to continue to rely on vaccination. A new offensive is planned to “bring as many people as possible to the booster vaccination,” said Doskozil.
