Bugatti just introduced the Chiron Super Sport, a beast of 1600 horsepower of which only 30 units will be manufactured with street specifications and a very exclusive price: 3.9 million dollars, not counting the taxes of each country.
The Bugatti Chiron Super Sport is something like the ideal combination between the Chiron Super Sport 300+ and the Chiron Pur Sport, two models launched between 2019 and 2020. In essence, it promises the best of both worlds, a perfect mix between comfort and ultra-sporty performance.
Inside, it replaces the Alcantara surfaces of the 300+ and Pur Sport with leather upholstery and polished aluminum elements. There are also carbon fiber materials. And the front headrests say Chiron Super Sport in embroidery.
For better performance, the automaker’s engineers stretched the body by 25 centimeters relative to the conventional Bugatti Chiron. This guarantees more effective airflow at high speedsas well as the upright dual tailpipes and active rear spoiler. In addition, the spoiler contracts when the maximum speed mode is activated without impairing the stability of the vehicle thanks to the extended tail section.
The circular air intakes in the front sector are inspired by the Bugatti EB110 (also the exhaust system) they come from the 300+. What is unique to this model are the Y-shaped five-spoke aluminum wheels. The special detail is the tires, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 specially developed to reach speeds close to 500 kilometers per hour.
Among the things that are not seen with the naked eye, its W16 engine (it is something like a double V8) of 8.0 liters of displacement and four turbochargers. He is qualified to deliver 1600 horsepower and 1600 Nm of maximum torque. All that power is sent to all four wheels (it has all-wheel drive) through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. A striking fact is that it changes from sixth to seventh gear when it reaches 403 kilometers per hour.
The figures for the Chiron Super Sport are chilling. Thanks to a weight reduction of 23 kilos compared to the conventional Chiron, accelerates from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in 5.8 seconds and from 0 to 300 in 12.1 seconds. It’s 7 percent faster than the base Chiron (if that term is allowed, of course) at acceleration from 0 to 400 kilometers per hour.
Production of the Chiron SS will begin in the next few days, Bugatti confirmed. The first customers will receive their unit early 2022.
