Boston Dynamics robo-dog helps demining in Ukraine

The US Army has approved the use of one of its two robotic dogs to clear mines in Ukraine.

The Boston Dynamics Spot robot is used to dispose of mortar shells and cluster munitions in the areas liberated from Russia around the capital Kyiv, according to Foreign Policy executive director of the NGO HALO Trust Chris Whatley. This organization has many contracts with the US government to work in Ukraine.

“Spot” can bring the unexploded ammunition into pits, where 50 to 100 shells can then be safely detonated without endangering any of the 10 HALO teams in Bucha and Brovary.
