The successor to Ueli Schmezer (60) is certain: Bettina Ramseier (41) will be the face of the “Kassensturz”. As the SRF writes in a press release, the current Germany correspondent is expected to moderate her first program in spring 2022.
Bettina Ramseier studied business journalism and communication sciences in Winterthur and at the Free University of Berlin as well as New Media Journalism at the University of Leipzig. She has been working as a television journalist for almost 20 years. She started at Tele Züri, then worked as a business editor at SRF for “ECO” as well as for “Tagesschau” and “10vor10”. Ramseier also works for German media such as n-TV or “Die Welt”. She has been stationed in Berlin as Germany correspondent since October 2018.
Bettina Ramseier is looking forward to an investigative broadcast
About her new job, Ramseier says: “I immersed myself deeply in another country, accompanied the powerful and experienced the everyday life of Germans – and learned a lot about Switzerland in the process. I am looking forward to being able to use my skills in an important, investigative program such as the ‘Kassensturz’ in the future. “It is a privilege and a meaningful task to expose grievances and give a voice to those who otherwise would not be heard.
«As a persistent journalist, Bettina Ramseier will question and challenge her interview guests in the studio. I am delighted that it is reinforcing the ‘Kassensturz’ as the independent voice of Swiss consumers and that it will take a critical look at issues such as consumption, money and work, ”says Kassensturz editor-in-chief Christian Dütschler.
Bettina Ramseier will moderate together with Kathrin Winzenried
She will lead through the show together with the previous presenter Kathrin Winzenried (48), who is increasing her workload. “As two strong presenters, you will give the show a profile together with the team,” emphasizes Dütschler. Ramseier succeeds Ueli Schmezer, who was the face of “Kassensturz” for 25 years. Schmezer made a name for himself with his emotional conversations: He did not hesitate to follow up on uncomfortable situations without detours. He is expected to be in front of the camera for the last time on December 21, 2021 as the presenter of “Kassensturz”. Who will take over Ramseier’s job as Germany correspondent has not yet been regulated. (bsn)
