The third beta version of the upcoming Android release 12 brings expanded screenshot functions and a new search engine. The final release is expected by the end of August.
This week, Google released the third beta version of the upcoming Android version 12 for all interested testers. As the group reports via blog post, the latest preliminary version can again come up with various innovations and improvements. The so-called scrolling screenshots are cited as an example. This means that pictures can be made not only of the currently visible screen area, but of the entire content shown. A special Scrollcapture API has been released so that developers can prepare their app for this. Also new is the on-device search, which is provided via a powerful search engine called Appsearch. Apps can use it to index structured data and quickly find it again using the integrated full-text search. Other changes concern the display and control of the camera and microphone, the pairing of apps and the auto-rotation function.
After the release of Beta 3 of Android 12, another beta version is planned for August. The publication of the final version is expected at the end of August, beginning of September. (rd)
