The Bern Chapter Bollwerk Club was closed on Saturday evening at 11 p.m. by order of the cantonal doctor. It is expected to remain for 10 days, as the canton of Bern announced in a statement early Sunday morning.
After a person who had visited the club last weekend had already tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, it turned out on Saturday evening that two other people had tested positive for the lung disease Covid-19.
One of the two new people was in the club last Thursday. She had previously shown symptoms, so at that point she was already contagious. The contact tracers had already received the list of around 140 people who had stayed in the club on Thursday.
Quarantine for 305 party goers
The people on the contact list had been notified in writing (tonight). They would also be contacted by phone on Sunday. The cantonal doctor ordered the Bern club to be closed in order to interrupt the transmission chains.
Last Saturday, the cantonal doctor’s office put all 305 party goers into quarantine after visiting the “Kapital Bollwerk” after a person had tested positive for the corona virus.
They are not allowed to leave the house or apartment for ten days, must adhere to the guidelines of the Federal Office of Public Health and monitor their state of health. However, the operation of the club was maintained as a protection concept with registration of the guests was in place.
