Power failure in the PCK Schwedt refinery: a lot of black smoke

Schwedt (Oder) (dpa / bb) – In the PCK refinery in Schwedt (Oder) the power completely went out on Wednesday morning. This was confirmed by the company’s press spokeswoman, Viola Brocker, when asked. A disruption in the national network led to considerable problems with the power supply in the PCK’s power plant. The reason was a so-called voltage drop, as Brocker explained. In the course of this, there was a complete failure of the electricity. First the “Nordkurier” reported.

The safety-relevant systems have been switched to battery operation. Brocker stressed that there was no danger to the population. Residents had reported thick black plumes of smoke over the torches of the facility, which are visible from afar. The spokeswoman explained the increased smoke development via the torches.
