On Sunday morning Beatrice Egli (32) heated the spirits of her Graubünden fans. An embarrassing mistake happened to her in the live show “Every Sunday”: she forgot how many national languages Switzerland has.
Egli was on the stage of the morning music show when Stefan Mross (44) announced that the pop singer was now with «Verboten gut vs. Bello e Impossibile »I’ll sing a song in German and Italian.
“We have three national languages”
The Schwyzerin then said: “Yes, because we Swiss have three national languages.” And added: “And now there are new songs from me in French and Italian.”
They can be heard on her first Swiss album “Mini Schwiiz – Mini Heimat”, which she released on August 14th. However, only three of the four national languages are represented there. In addition to two French and Italian songs, eight of them are in Swiss German.
Egli apologizes to the Graubünden
The national language debacle apparently did not leave Egli in peace, then on Tuesday she apologized to her Graubünden fans in her Instagram story. “I wanted to tell you: I can’t speak Romansh – but I know that we also speak Romansh in Switzerland.” She has never dared to sing in Romansh.
Then in the video she turns to a woman who knows the Graubünden language and adds: “Who knows, maybe she’ll teach me that and then I can sing in Romansh at some point.” (frk)
