Basel – Biker dies after a cardiac arrest at the Töff Parade

At the weekend, the Biker Days, a free motorcycle and music festival, took place in Basel St. Jakob. The festival celebrated its fifth anniversary, with a big bike parade on Saturday being the highlight of the event. But the celebrations were overshadowed by a sad incident.

A medical emergency occurred at the parade on Saturday afternoon. A man suffered a heart attack shortly before the start of the parade and fell off his motorcycle. According to participants in the parade, he had to be resuscitated on site. The Basel police spokesman Toprak Yerguz confirmed a deployment of the Basel-Stadt rescue. “The ambulance of the Basel-Stadt ambulance was called for an emergency in which a person had to be reanimated and taken to the hospital,” said Yerguz.

On Sunday the sad certainty: the biker died in the hospital. The organizers of the Biker Days confirmed the death on Facebook. “We now have the sad certainty that our biker friend did not survive the heart attack. Our thoughts go with the relatives, to whom we express our condolences on behalf of the Biker Days Basel ”, they wrote. According to the organizers, he started his last journey in the midst of friends and while exercising his passion.
