Barca prepare for tempting offers for Christensen

Barça central defender Andreas Christensen is having a remarkable season. The Dane’s performances have not escaped the eye of Premier League clubs. It is rumored that interesting offers could arrive this summer.

According to information obtained by Sport, Mateu Alemany, director of Barcelona football, recently met Ilhan Gundogan, Christensen’s agent. The two men discussed the player’s future and the club’s desire to extend his contract. If tempting offers arrive, however, the situation could change.

The media recalls that Barça is going through a complicated period financially. Its objective is to reduce the payroll by 200 million euros. For this, the club intends to sell players and make pay cuts. Alemany would remain attentive to all proposals.

Andreas Christensen has already shone in the colors of Chelsea, but it was at Barça that he confirmed his potential. Xavi Hernandez, coach of the Catalan club, trusts him. The player has become a starter and is one of the most effective recruits of the season. His sale would generate a substantial profit for the club, while he signed for free.

However, Barça does not intend to separate from Christensen so easily, the media further explains. The leaders would like to recruit a left-handed central defender and already have Ronald Araujo, Jules Koundé and Eric Garcia available, as well as Marcos Alonso. Eric Garcia might be the most likely to leave the club but no attractive offers have been received so far.
