On Monday night, Thibaut Courtois (30 years old, 9 games in all competitions this season) won the Yachine Trophy, which awarded the best goalkeeper in the world for the 2021-2022 season. A just reward for the goalkeeper of Real Madrid, author of a flamboyant last exercise. But insufficient to console the Belgian for his 7th place in the Ballon d’Or rankings.

“I’m not saying I would have won it, but I’m not even on the podium as the goalkeeper who won La Liga and the Champions League. It seems that a goal is better than stopping it. C “is a battle yet to be won. Seeing the logic and knowing how they vote, I knew I would have no chance of winning it. (…) It is impossible for a goalkeeper to win this award. I don’t know if as a goalkeeper you can do more than I did last year,” the former Chelsea player told Cadena SER.

An opinion shared by former Real goalkeeper Iker Casillas (see yesterday’s assignment at 23:31).
