The researcher argues that “Beja can work very well for now for flights with stopovers, maintenance or air cargo, which relieves Portela”. Even if the airlines are not interested in landing in the Alentejo, Maria Baltazar guarantees that, “if there is political will”, there are solutions so that the Beja runway is sought after. “You can have tax exemption, connection to Lisbon without tolls or on buses from the airport to the capital, it all depends on the incentives,” he defends.
