Atalantas Højlund on FC Bayern's list – alternative to Osimhen, Kane & Co.

Pitcher no longer focused

In the FC Bayern team, which is the third most valuable in the world with a squad value of 980 million euros, there is one major position: that of center forward. Harry Kane (29, Tottenham) has been on the list of candidates for years and, since this season, Randal Kolo Muani (24, SGE) and Victor Osimhen (24, Napoli) – according to “Sport Bild”, Niclas Füllkrug (30, Werder) and Dusan Vlahovic (23, Juventus) doesn’t matter. But Rasmus Højlund (20) from Atalanta Bergamo, who was upgraded from 20 million to 35 million euros in the latest Serie A market value update.

After the last Bundesliga matchday, there will be a squad analysis between Bayern bosses Hasan Salihamidzic and Oliver Kahn and coach Thomas Tuchel with a focus on a new striker. While Kane, Kolo Muani or Osimhen would have to break the 100 million mark, which has happened 13 times in football history, Højlund would probably be cheaper. Atalanta only took him from Sturm Graz in 2022 for 17.2 million euros and equipped him with a contract dated until 2027.

In the rumor mill, the 1.91 meter tall Dane has long been associated with FC Bayern. TM user “know” writes: “… Brazzo and Kahn know that they have to land a direct hit, otherwise they are gone and not the coach! And if Højlund doesn’t take action and they’ve paid 60 million, everyone will say, ‘See, why didn’t you get Osimhen or Kolo Muani or Harry Kane!’”

With the signing of Sadio Mané (31), the first attempt to close the gap in the storm backfired for the time being. Eleven goals in 32 games and most recently the fisticuffs against Leroy Sané (27) are a modest record for the former Liverpool star, who, according to “Sport Bild” information, was given the largest fine in the club’s history: 350,000 euros. With a rumored monthly salary of 2 million euros, Mané is considered the top earner in Munich and is also one of the best-paid footballers in Europe.

While Kane, Kolo Muani and Osimhen were seeded at their clubs from the start of the season, Højlund did not until matchday 16. Overall, the 20-year-old has scored eight goals in 28 appearances for Atalanta and is already seen as a potential successor to Osimhen should he take the next step. “The striker market is very complicated for FC Bayern and I believe that you have to be satisfied with a cheaper option,” writes TM user “Zehner_UK”. Only one thing seems certain: another season in the center of the attack, they will not rely exclusively on the services of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (34) and the talented Mathys Tel (17).
