Aston Martin: Lance Stroll fired by his father? / Formula 1

Lance Stroll has a hard time at Aston Martin in 2022, compared to Sebastian Vettel. GP winner Johnny Herbert feels Stroll’s father, Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll, is running out of patience.

After eight Formula 1 races in 2022, the 23-year-old Canadian Lance Stroll was only able to score two points – the Aston Martin driver finished tenth in Imola and Miami (ranked 17th in the championship). Sebastian Vettel finds more speed with this year’s wing car and recently finished sixth in Baku, the Heppenheimer has scored 13 points so far, in two races fewer than Stroll (Sebastian fell ill with Corona at the beginning of the season).

The Aston Martin team duel currently looks like this:
Sebastian Vettel – Lance Stroll
Quali-Duell: 5: 1
Race duel: 4:1
Top ten finishes: 3:2

Three-time GP winner Johnny Herbert, now Formula 1 expert for British Sky, points out in the podcast F1 Nation: “Lance is not having an easy time at the moment. I guess there will come a time when Lawrence Stroll says to his son, ‘Boy, I gave you this chance, but it just doesn’t quite work out. I have to do the right thing for the team now.’»

For Stroll junior, who often seems listless, that would mean: he would be fired by his own father and replaced by another driver.

According to the 57-year-old Herbert, Lance Stroll will only be able to save himself like this: «Lance now has to consistently achieve good results. It’s all a bit fragmented at the moment.”

Herbert also has an alternative for Stroll senior: «In his place I would fish for the fast and reliable Pierre Gasly. In any case, I wouldn’t be surprised if Lawrence Stroll is currently discreetly inquiring about who’s available for 2023.”
