The Arouca suspension bridge, until now the largest in the world, was built at a height of 176 meters, over the Paiva River. It opened in 2021 and was considered the longest suspension bridge in the world. Now, the “Sky Bridge 721”, located in the Czech Republic, has dethroned the one in Arouca.
The new Czech bridge is 721 meters long, is 95 meters above ground level and is over 1,000 meters high. It is necessary to travel 721 meters to make the total crossing from one side of the bridge to the other, in a structure 1.2 meters wide, and another 10 meters above sea level.
Construction of the suspension bridge took two years and will open to the public this week.
