Almost every new month there is a supposedly bigger new update for Android Auto. Sometimes even several times within around four weeks of a current month. It’s only been a week since the last update. Android Auto version 6.6 was released today, version 6.5 only came to the Play Store last Friday. Unfortunately, the version numbers have no direct meaning and therefore do not promise a wealth of new functions.
Google doesn’t update changelogs for bug fix updates
Already with the update to version 6.5 you had to look for the new features and we didn’t find any. Google almost always does not maintain the changelog for many of its own apps. Even today there is nothing to be found in it that has not been written there for months. Changes and innovations are therefore rather hidden or we might notice at some point by chance. This includes bug fixes. However, none that Google had recently addressed in its own forum.
Android Auto is being updated, but so far no new features of version 6.6 are known
Google’s developers provide information almost exclusively in their own forum when new bug fixes are deployed. I couldn’t find anything for this for version 6.5 and 6.6. There, too, you have to go through all the major bugs individually and research whether the developers have announced a bug fix for a particular version. If you want to look out for innovations yourself, you can get the new version directly from the Apkmirror. The update via the Play Store should come later.
More details may emerge in the next few hours and days about what changes the new app version has on board. It may also be that various innovations are only already integrated in the source code, which we users cannot see yet. Google recently worked on enabling work profiles in Android Auto and a USB troubleshooter was developed.
YouTube Music gets a new look
Regardless of the update for Android Auto, there is still something new to report. Google has revised the style for YouTube Music, but this depends more on the update for this app. The start page is new, for example, and the logo is now permanently displayed at the top left instead of the back button.
