It is in a festive atmosphere that the AllAfrica Global Medias Group held its traditional AllAfrica Leadership Continental Awards to present the prizes to its winners this year. These are four women who are renowned in their field of activity.
Among the lucky winners are two Moroccans, namely Ms. Salwa Idrissi Akhannouch, Founder and President of Aksal Group (Morocco) who won the AllAfrica Continental Leadership Award for Economic and Social Development.
Followed by the second Moroccan, Ms. Rachida Kaaout, President of the High Commissioner for African Diasporas in France. She received from the hands of the boss of AllAfrica, the Diaspora AllAfrica Continental Leadership Award. She recalled the importance of the other region of Africa, the diaspora, calling for more action or initiative for women, in order to enable them to fully play their role.
In this dynamic, Ms. Vera Songwe, originally from Cameroon, was awarded the Special AllAfrica Continental Leadership Award. Current president of the board of directors of the Liquidity & Sustainability Facility (LSF), this prize comes to salute the work done by her person, at the head of the Economic Commission for Africa of the United Nations system. According to Amadou Mahtar Ba, Chairman and CEO of AllAfrica, the initiatives taken by Ms. Songwe during the Covid-19 period deserve to be recognized, as they have enabled many African countries to cope with the pandemic.
It is in this dynamic that the Performance AllAfrica Continental Leadership Award went to the Burkinabe Ms. Delphine Traoré, regional CEO of Allianz Africa for the innovative products implemented in the agricultural insurance sector, but also in favor of financial inclusion for women in Africa. Previously, Ms. Sy Mariama Ba, Regional Director of the Francophone Region recalled that the AWA Awards were initiated to honor women who embody female leadership and who must inspire young girls.
Thus, after a day full of proposals and orientations around the theme of the AWA Forum 2023: “Food Sovereignty: Feeding Africa Women”, the AllAfrica Group has combined business with pleasure. The dinner with Moroccan flavors served to the guests was seasoned with Senegalese sounds which announced the festive atmosphere to announce the International Women’s Day celebrated in Morocco, Africa and all over the world.
This testifies to the vitality of the cultural mix that punctuates Africa and the need to unite forces in this context of implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (Zlecaf). An initiative which, according to Mustapha Mellouk, member of the Board of Directors of AllAfrica Global Media, must be accompanied by a media leader like allafrica.com through platforms for dynamic reflection on the issues of the African continent.
