The Playstation Showcase went off with a bang on September 9 and flooded us with new information regarding the future of the PS5. Exclusives, new projects, remakes, we summarize the essentials for you.
[Mis à jour le 10 septembre 2021 à 15h02] Sony has been waiting for the turn for 3 months now. Absent from E3 and Gamescom, the Japanese firm finally decided to organize its own event, the Playstation Showcase, on Thursday, September 9. This show was entirely dedicated to the Playstation 5, revealing all kinds of projects for Sony’s star console. Exclusives, remakes, PC porting, there is something for everyone. We will summarize the essentials for you.
The lightning entrance to God of War: Ragnarök
It’s official, our friend Kratos is back for a second opus of his family adventures in Midgard. Far from being a friendly hike for the family, this new part promises to be muscular since the Spartan will have to rub shoulders with sizeable enemies, Odin and Thor, in order to prevent Ragnarök or end of the world for those close to them. Enjoyable gameplay, breathtaking graphics, Santa Monica Studios knows the perfect recipe to show off the full power of the PS5. We know that the game will also be released on PS4, and we have a (vague) release window: 2022. All the info here:
Marvel in the spotlight with two releases
The adventures of our favorite superheroes are still coming to console. Insomniac Games, the studio behind Spiderman: Miles Morales or Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart returns with not one but two games dedicated to the Marvel universe. The very first, Wolverine, was revealed to us in a very mysterious CG trailer. This will be a game exclusive to the PS5. The second is none other than Spiderman 2, shown through another cutscene where it was discovered that the continuation of the adventures of Peter Parker also involved Miles Morales, both reunited to defeat Venom. The game is scheduled for 2023, will be playable solo and only on PS5.
Star Wars, the return of the comeback
No conference would be complete without the announcement of a Star Wars game. And for this one, we can say that we were pleasantly surprised. It’s Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic that marks its comeback in a most mysterious remake developed by Aspyr. The Jedi are making a strong comeback in an RPG that will be fully remastered, while remaining true to the original story. KOTOR sauce 2023? You can’t ask for anything better. This will be a temporary exclusive on PS5.
Gran Turismo 7 trace on the route
With the upcoming release of a Forza Horizon 5 which has been impressive for several months now, it was necessary for Sony to reassure fans of racing games. Developed by Polyphony Digital, Gran Turismo 7 was presented to us in a trailer of several minutes. Photo mode, career mode, vehicle customization, everything is there … Except racing sequences. The game will be released on March 4, 2022 on PS4 and PS5.
Uncharted: Nathan Drake lands on PC
As we have known for a few years now, Sony intends to bring many of its exclusives to PC. This was the case with Days Gone or Horizon Zero Dawn recently. However, it is our favorite adventurer who has joined the list of Playstation to PC ports. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy hit PC in early 2022, in a bundle that will include both games.
