Soon you will also be able to use Alexa for voice control on iOS and Android devices. This is made possible by a new development tool.

Amazon introduced Alexa for Apps. Alexa for Apps enables developers to integrate Amazon’s voice control directly into iOS and Android apps and, for example, to launch apps. How Amazon bypasses Siri or the Google Assistant. In the case of Apple in particular, this was not previously the case, Siri had previously mastered the platform and was not interchangeable. Amazon uses a function called Deep Links to launch apps. With this function one app can call another and control a certain function. Alexa works for apps for all applications that support deep links.

Amazon has already tested Alexa for Apps with popular applications, including Tiktok (see video) and Uber. Until now, Alexa for Apps has only been available to selected developers. Further information can be found here. (mw)
