Activists occupy Flemish foie gras farm Abroad

"After seeing the images of the cages, the wired surface on which these animals must live and the dozens of dead and injured ducks, we were all very upset," said Animal Resistance.

The movement is said to have unsuccessfully approached the Flemish Ministry of Animal Welfare and has therefore taken action. The police have been pulled to the farm and arrests are taking place.

The farm in Bekegem is the last foie gras producer in Flanders and must close its doors in 2023. The activists do not want to wait that long and demand immediate closure. According to the ministry, the action is outdated, because Flanders has already approved a ban on compulsory feeding.
