Abruzzo, orange zone risk: what could change

As is well known, there are three i parameters which define the fascia belonging to the emergency Covid 19: the incidence, the theshold percentage ofoccupancy of the beds in the ordinary departments and that relating to terapie intensive. As for the first parameter, like all the regions of Italy that are now dealing with the variant Omicron, the figure, which should not exceed 150 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants to remain in the yellow zone, has already jumped for a while. At this point Abruzzo flies well over 2 thousand cases, although this fortunately did not lead to hospitalization equal to that which occurred in the early days of the pandemic, when there were no vaccines and the variants in the field were more aggressive.

Despite this, the exponential increase of contagion led to an increase in the occupancy of the beds, even if – as mentioned – not to a “proportionate” extent. But that was enough for bring Abruzzo closer to the orange zone. In fact, as regards the employment of beds in ordinary wards, the threshold is 30%. Abruzzo is missing about 5% to reach it and by managing to keep hospitalizations in check, the region could manage to keep the yellow band, at least for another week.

The most stringent parameter, however, remains that of the employment of terapie intensive: in this case, the legislation provides for a threshold of 20%. In the case of Abruzzo, it is really a few units.

Hence the risk of seeing the orange zone trigger next Monday, although everything will depend on the data resulting from Friday’s Crisis Unit. Waiting for the numbers of Abruzzo, other regions in fact already have the guaranteed passage in the orange zone: they are Piedmont, Liguria, Sicily and Calabria.

What changes with the transition to the orange zone.

With the eventual passage from the yellow zone to the orange zone, for Super Green pass holders (or enhanced Green pass) there are no relevant changes.

For the others, however, changes especially in the area of displacements: for those who do not have a Green pass, travel with their own vehicle to other municipalities in the same region or to other regions are only permitted for work, necessity, health or unsuspended services, but not available in their municipality. All to be ascertained through self-certification. On the other hand, movements within 30 kilometers are allowed (with the exception of provincial capitals) and towards municipalities with less than 5,000 inhabitants. It is also forbidden toaccess to shops present in shopping centers on holidays and the day before holidays (except foodstuffs, newsstands, bookstores, pharmacies, tobacconists). For those who have only the “basic” Green pass, or only the negative buffer, however, access to the shops in the shopping centers on holidays and days before holidays is prohibited (with the previous exceptions), but also training courses in presence and practice of outdoor contact sports.
