Sedebi gave workshops to heads of families in the municipalities of Hidalgo, Nahuatzen, Quiroga and Morelia.

Morelia, Michoacán, August 12, 2022.- A total of 90 women, mainly heads of families, have been trained by the Program for Training and Provision of Supplies for Traditional Medicine of the Ministry of Welfare (Sedebi), reports its head, Carolina Rangel Gracida.

When the progress of the program, which started last July, made a cut, the civil servant pointed out that four training workshops were held, presented by traditional healers Emilia Alejo Simón and Alma Rosa González Calderón.

The first of them, he recalled, was held in the town of San Isidro Alta Huerta in the municipality of Hidalgo, aimed at 25 women with a duration of four days, in which they were trained in techniques of auriculotherapy, reflexology and manufacture of various natural products.

Likewise, these workshops were taken to the municipalities of Nahuatzen, Quiroga and Morelia, where six-hour training sessions were held for 65 female heads of households.

Rangel Gracida pointed out that these actions aim to promote and apply the knowledge of the indigenous people of Michoacán through traditional medicine.

“This program represents an alternative for immediate healthcare and sustainability for the vulnerable and marginalized population,” he said.

She invited all those women aged 18 or over, who head the household through informal or intermittent economic activities, or are economically dependent and whose main activity is unpaid domestic and care work, to join the program write.
