A unique open-air cinema in La Chaux-d’Abel

A large American-style screen will be set up on September 16 and 17 at La Chaux-d’Abel. The new owners of the local restaurant Julia Frey and Gérôme Abbadie are taking over a concept born in New Jersey in the 1930s. They have decided to collaborate with the company Drive-in specialized in the field, to offer a unique cinema session to the inhabitants of the region. The large screen will be positioned in front of the restaurant in a field and will be able to accommodate more than 30 cars. Restaurateur Julia Frey specifies that visitors will have the choice of either eating before the screenings or in the cars during the broadcast. The concept is new, but could be revived next year.

The latest James Bond film will be screened on Friday evening and the first part of the saga “What have we all done to God? will air on Saturday nights. If the restaurant opens its kitchen at 6 p.m., the two feature films will start at 9 p.m. Reservations at the restaurant are mandatory for these two days. Visitors will be able to enjoy the sound of the film in the cabin by connecting to a given frequency, relates Julia Frey.

The price of entries is fixed at 35.- per car. The project will cost some 2000.- for the two films, concludes the manager. /tch
