Tevaughn Campbell, 27, was arrested Thursday night, when he was suspected of shooting Hicksbert Dwight Grant outside his home in Coral Springs on Oct. 29, WSVN said.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Coral Springs police say Campbell had targeted Grant, 48, after seeing the elderly man use an ATM. Investigators say Campbell followed Grant home, tried to steal him and shot him in the chest.

Calling Campbell "a predator of heart and self-control," the authorities determined that Grant was making a deposit rather than a withdrawal that night late in October, meaning that he had not money on him during the attack, the newspaper reported.

According to WSVN, the authorities recovered the pistol used during the murder, found the gunman with the help of his vehicle and tied his DNA to a cap left behind.

After the altercation, Grant was rushed to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, and police arrested Campbell on November 7, the television channel said.

In his first court appearance Friday, Campbell was denied bail, the Sun-Sentinel reported.
