80,000 women have been examined since the beginning of the presidential initiative to take care of maternal and fetal health in Dakahlia

Dr. Saad Makki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Dakahlia, said that 80,000 women have been examined since the launch of the Maternal and Fetal Health Initiative, which is one of the 100 Million Health Initiatives.

The initiative aims at early detection of 3 serious infections that are transmitted to the fetus and cause serious symptoms, namely, hepatitis B, human immunodeficiency disease, and syphilis, in addition to reducing maternal deaths resulting from these diseases.

Makki explained that the initiative includes conducting a clinical examination to assess the general condition of pregnant women over 18 years of age, the condition of the fetus, and the discovery of risk factors that may accompany pregnancy according to the protocol applied by the maternal and child care, to follow up on pregnant women through a trained medical team while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of data.

Makki called on all pregnant women to go to the units concerned with the initiative to check on their health and protect the fetus.
