Second in the East at the end of the regular season, the Toronto Raptors took control in the conference semifinals against the Philadelphia Sixers (108-95) on Saturday. But on Monday, the Pennsylvania franchise reacted and won on Canadian soil (94-89). Apart from the first five minutes of the game, Philadelphia has always led in the score. Dominating in the first period, the “Process” team reached the break with a comfortable lead (51-38).
But, after returning from the locker room, the gap was considerably reduced. At the end of the third quarter, Toronto was thus back to one point (61-60, 34th). Not enough to panic the Sixers, who again distanced themselves (78-67, 41st). But vigilance was required. So after a three-point shootout battle – Jimmy Butler (Philly) responded to Pascal Siakam (Raptors) shot, but Kyle Lowry promptly replied for Toronto before scoring two more points – the Canadian franchise was back in the game. the wake of the Sixers (90-89) less than a minute from the buzzer.
Green misses a three points at the end of the game
A shot from Joel Embiid and two free throws from Tobias Harris finally allowed Philadelphia to win, level in their streak against the Raptors and regain home ground advantage. With 10 seconds remaining, Danny Green missed a three-point shot that would have given Toronto a comeback.
Jimmy Butler was the Sixers’ leading scorer with 30 points (and 11 rebounds). James Ennis (13 pts), Joel Embiid (12), JJ Redick (11) and Greg Monroe (10) also showed up. As for the Raptors, Kawhi Leonard was the best scorer of the meeting (35 points), well supported by Pascal Siakam (21 pts) and Kyle Lowry (20). The two teams will meet on Friday for Game 3 in Philadelphia.
Philadelphia had not won in Toronto since November 2012. On the floor of the Raptors, the Sixers remained on 14 consecutive losses.
Forty years ago, Bavaria’s bomber fled to Florida – and opened a steak house in Fort Lauderdale with “Gerd Müller’s Ambry”. AZ visited the restaurant. “Hardly anyone asks about him anymore.”
Munich / Fort Lauderdale – Upheaval – Bavaria’s word of the year, now. At the end of the 1970s, FC Bayern was facing one of the biggest cuts in its history. After three triumphs in the European Cup from 1974 to ’76, Bayern’s successful framework is crumbling.
Gerd Müller, the legendary “bomber of the nation”, had stress in the 1978/79 season with the Hungarian coach Pál Csernai, who dared to replace the center forward on February 3, 1979 at the away game in Frankfurt. Almost ten minutes before the end! When Eintracht leads 2-0! Without injury! For Müller an insult to majesty. Csernai simply lowers his thumb about the idol of a nation and says: “Müller’s performance is no longer sufficient for the Bundesliga. The club can therefore not afford to give him another chance.” A week later, in the 4-0 win against Borussia Dortmund in the Munich Olympic Stadium, Müller, then 33 years old, was in the starting line-up for the last time, but remained without a goal.
March 17, 1979: Gerd Müller fled to Florida
After 453 games and 398 goals for Bayern, it’s time to go. Müller flees. The goal: Florida and a commitment for two and a half years with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the NASL (North American Soccer League). An operetta league. It doesn’t matter, the main thing is fun. And $ 800,000 in salary. He earns “by no means worse than at Bayern”, claims Müller and is happy to be out “with them”. Expelled. On March 17, 1979, the Müllers fly to America, “a bit sad when you’ve played for a club for so long,” he says. You are looking for a house and a German-speaking school for daughter Nicole in Florida. A new beginning full of uncertainty after 14 years on Säbener Strasse.
On April 28th, exactly 40 years ago, Müller celebrates his NASL debut against the Tampa Bay Rowdies (1: 2) at home in Lockhart Stadium, but remains without a goal. It was only in the third match that he scored 4-0 on May 12 against the Toronto Blizzards. Aside from soccer, the millers find a job.
In 1984 Gerd Müller returned to Munich
Together with their friendly gastro couple, Hans and Hannelore Huber, they take over the steak house “The Ambry”, which was popular at the time, and call it “Gerd Müller’s Ambry”. The striker becomes a hello uncle, is his best guest himself, especially at the bar.
When the Müllers left Fort Lauderdale in 1984 and returned to Munich, the Hubers stayed. The restaurant is now simply called “The Ambry” again. But what became of it? A site visit, 40 years after Müller’s escape to the USA.
The “Ambry” is neither in the tourist-attractive center of Fort Lauderdale, called “the Venice of Florida” because of its waterways and canals, nor between the skyscrapers “downtown”, but a bit outside the city center, on one of the seemingly endless boulevards. 3016, East Commercial Blvd. On the roof of the “German-American Restaurant” two US flags, two German ones. In the immediate vicinity a diving shop called “Scuba Network” as well as a massage and wellness center. The culinary competition, the Italian “Zuckerrello’s” is directly opposite.
Dinner Special: “Hackbraten home made”
Next to the entrance there is a maypole in white-blue with a sign saying “Weizenbiergarten”. Plastic signs from beer brewers reveal extracts from the drinks menu. The “Dinner Special” is “home made meatloaf”.
Wednesdays are regulars for the German community. Leberkäs, goulash soup, veal sausages, salad from the buffet. With German beer. Dessert? Apple strudel, of course. Or vanilla ice cream with hot raspberries. The guests also enjoy Black Forest cake.
Parking is important in the States, there is plenty of space in front of the “Ambry”. The parking lot fills up from 4.30 p.m. The bargain customers are coming, the “Early Bird Special” beckons from 5 pm.
A queue forms in front of the entrance to the brick building. The owners give in to the hungry and open a few minutes earlier. Behind the massive wooden door there is Bavarian cosiness in subdued light. Homely. Hearty. One wall is decorated with a collection of official Oktoberfest beer mugs. One of the rooms, the TV room, is full of football devotional items. A colorful hodgepodge of scarves, pennants, framed photos, pewter plates – only individual pieces are reminiscent of the famous man who once owned the restaurant.
Many regular guests do not know Gerd Müller
Here a photo, there an autograph, there is no more Bayern & Bomber. “Hardly anyone asks about Gerd Müller”, says Gaby Huber, the daughter who is now in charge of the service. Son Hans Huber junior, a trained butcher, runs the kitchen. “We have a lot of Americans as regulars who don’t know him or have never seen him play.”
People still watch football, mostly at the bar. “Also the Bundesliga, plus American Sports, of course. Everything that comes up,” says Gabi. Behind the counter one discovers a golden soccer shoe from Müller’s private collection. As Europe’s most successful goalscorer, the bomber won it twice, in 1969/70 and 1971/72.
Evidence of the past. The Hubers in Florida know about Müller’s current health. The 73-year-old suffers from Alzheimer’s, he lives in a nursing home in the south of Munich, is looked after around the clock and is visited every day by his wife Uschi. Former teammates, friends and companions like President Uli Hoeneß and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stop by every now and then. It takes a long time until Müller then recognizes them.

The Japanese airline will soon start its Airbus A380 flights between Tokyo and Honolulu. Now she shows what it will look like on board.
ANA All Nippon Airways is scheduled to start on May 24th. The Japanese airline took an order from Airbus for three Airbus A380s that were supposed to go to the bankrupt company Skymark. Painted as giant turtles, the three super jumbos are now supposed to transport tourists between Tokyo and Honolulu.
The first Airbus A380 was taken over by ANA at the end of last month, the second is to follow soon and start service on July 1st. The company is currently preparing for the final preparations. Before it starts soon, ANA shows in advance what it will look like in the cabin of the latest addition to the fleet.
A total of four classes
The classes on board are clearly divided for the 520 passengers: the 383 economy class seats are mainly located on the lower floor. The seats are built in a 3-4-3 arrangement. A little more than 86 centimeters apart, the blue and white seats separate from each other, which are equipped with USB plugs and for entertainment with touchscreens.
A special feature awaits in the rear area of the economy class: with 70 seats, the triple or quad benches can be converted into beds with extendable supports. ANA introduces these seats for the first time and markets them especially to families and couples. The special seats can be booked for an additional charge, the surcharge varies according to the number of seats booked.
A lot to little change
More solvent customers will sit on the upper deck of the A380. First Class (8 seats), Business Class (56 seats) and Premium Economy (73 seats) are located there. ANA also introduces new products in these classes. For the first time, the first class seats will be arranged in separate boxes, the large partitions should ensure more privacy.
But it should also be more collaborative on the first floor. Some seats in Business Class will share an armrest, of course of a correspondingly large size, to facilitate conversations between passengers traveling together or extroverted passengers. Apart from this detail, ANA is already using the same business class in its Boeing 777 and Boeing 787.
Also sit in the stretch dreamliner
The Premium Economy seats are newer. ANA introduced the new version of the upscale wood class in their new Boeing 787-10 last month. Travelers who have logged in here will have a seat spacing of 97 centimeters.
In the picture gallery above you can see what the cabin of the Airbus A380 looks like at All Nippon Airways ANA.
After having released the Washington Capitals, the defending champions, in the first round of the NHL play-offs, the Carolina Hurricanes now “bother” the New York Islanders, second in the Metropolitan division during the regular season. Sunday, they imposed themselves on the New York ice (2-1), confirming their first victory (1-0). The Hurricanes are now leading two runs from scratch in this series of conference semifinals and will now receive two games.
Carolina won on Sunday from goals from Warren Foegele and Nino Niederreiter at the start of the third period. Previously the New York Islanders had opened the scoring by Mathew Barzal after 14 minutes of play. Game 3 between the two teams will take place Thursday.
Separated from his wife for a few months, Usher gets rid of part of his real estate assets. After having put up for sale his vast house located in Hollywood, near the famous Chateau Marmont, the singer has just sold his charming home in northern Atlanta. As reported TMZ, the r’n’b star would have found a buyer for this 270 square meter house at a price of 775,000 dollars (approximately 696,000 euros).
The new owner has undoubtedly got a good deal since the accommodation had cost the singer less than $ 970,000 in 2007. Surrounded by greenery, this house with modern architecture seems very bright. It has three bedrooms and as many bathrooms and has its own rooftop. A major asset for fans of American football, the house is just a few minutes from the Mercedes-Benz Stadium where the Falcons play.
Hello, goodbye and of course love: You can actually say Aloha whenever you mean well with your counterpart. And you do that all the time in Hawaii anyway. Drivers honk their horns almost never in Aloha State. When the local biker gang meets, there is no hard rock coming out of the loudspeakers, but gentle ukulele banter. On the Big Island, the largest of the eight main islands, the hospitals don’t even need to store antidotes. Where there are no poisonous plants and animals, there is no need for an antidote …
Yes, Hawaii, that’s harmony. In addition, year-round warm temperatures, palm trees, sandy beaches and awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets. No wonder that the island chain is described as paradise on earth on thousands of postcards every year. But what happens if you take off the tourist sunglasses? When you look at paradise from a local’s point of view? In search of answers we meet Jory and Arthur.
The sink is right next to the head of the bed. The rusty rooster screeches so loudly that you instinctively turn it off again. Just quickly remove the toothpaste residue from the pool, but then let’s get out of here. Fortunately, the Hotel Honokaa’s breakfast room is more spacious. There is a photo of a turtle on the wall. On a chest of drawers is a book that shows US President Barack Obama with a flower necklace around his neck: A President from Hawaii.
Jory is already at the table. While the rain is pounding down the main street outside, the owner of the hotel is munching cheerfully. There is toast, tangerines and coffee. It’s raining more and more here from November onwards, says Jory, nodding towards the window. 40 miles further, in Hilo, it rained for 30 days straight last January and there was no five-minute break. A new record.
The slim man came to Hawaii 50 years ago as a Lutheran priest. And Jory can still preach well at 78. Most of the guests arrive in the evening and leave the next morning. Nobody wants to have a good conversation anymore, he complains. Everyone just looks at their smartphone, but what is that? A machine. You cannot pack values in a machine!
The hotel, the only guest accommodation in the area, was built in the twenties, when Honokaa, a town with two thousand inhabitants, made a living from growing sugar cane, says Jory. The grandfather of his wife Anelle, who was three years younger than him, still worked on the plantations that produced for the big US supermarket chains. For the mainland, as Jory puts it.
The price that the environment had to pay was high, the wages of the workers low. When the tropical forests near Honokaa were destroyed and the rivers were contaminated by production waste, production was relocated to Asian countries, which pay their workers even lower wages.
Since then, the hotel has lost its guests. Nevertheless, Anelle and Jory hope to be able to keep the building in its historical condition. We’d love it best if it was listed, says Jory. So far this has not been successful. But: Today the 78-year-old doesn’t want to talk too much about his worries. It’s Thanksgiving, after all. Jory invites him to attend the service in the Baptist church next door.
More powerful than Everest
Two meters, a beard and a booming bass voice: Arthur has something fiery about it. Of the 15 occupants in the four-wheel-drive bus, he endured the longest. But after he steered the vehicle curve by curve towards the summit, it got pretty cold inside too.
Once at the top, Arthur switches off the engine, pulls on an army parka over T-shirt and puts on a woolen hat. Welcome to Mauna Kea, he calls and opens the door.
Welcome to winter would have been just as fitting. There is something surreal about the scene: this morning, the bus occupants in flip-flops were slipping along the sandy beach of Kailua-Kona. But after first passing the lava fields along Highway 19, the grass gel near the Parker Ranch and finally a dust-covered gravel road, there is actually snow up here.
As Arthur explains, Mauna Kea is the highest peak in the Pacific. Not only that: it is even higher than Mount Everest. Like pretty much everything in Hawaii, the White Mountain is of volcanic origin. The real foot is under the ocean floor, he says. Calculated in this way, Mauna Kea is over 17,000 meters high.
Volcanoes, bombs and a general
Arthur takes tourists to the summit three days a week. The rest of the time he works on the family’s own coffee farm. We are slowly recovering from the consequences of the volcanic eruption in 2018, he reports, while next to him people from all over the world marvel at the panorama.
The lava flows would not have made it to the west of the Big Island: But the volcanic ash in the atmosphere has ensured less rain for months. That’s why we weren’t able to harvest as much coffee as in previous years. Nevertheless, the Kilauea eruption was also exciting. I studied geology when I was in the army. That’s why I was part of a team that took samples on site, Arthur proudly reports.
Of course, the first reaction to such an outbreak is sadness and anger, but it’s still a volcano. The American General Patton has already seen how little man can do against such elemental force. In 1935, when a lava flow moved towards the army’s quarters near Mauna Kea, it dropped bombs, says Arthur and laughs. The effect was zero. In the meantime, the tour group has gathered again at the bus. Arthur smiles around: Well, who’s in the mood for a hot chocolate?
A goodbye selfie
The Thanksgiving service and lunch have just ended in Honokaa. And: there is a lot left. While the men put chairs and tables together in the small church, the women set about packing turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables and cakes in packed lunches. For you, says Jory’s wife, Annelle, and brightly pushes a bag of goodies into each hand. Is it allowed to throw a donation into the community treasury in return? Annelle shakes her head firmly: Today is Thanksgiving!
Anyway: Back at the hotel, Jory can be helped to bring the waste from the past few days to the garbage dump. At the farewell, the 78-year-old looks moved. That was a nice morning, he says. So beautiful that Jory even smiles into the smartphone camera for a farewell selfie.
A guest in Hawaii
General: Hawaii is strictly speaking an entire archipelago and forms the 50th state in the United States. The largest island is called the Big Island, but the capital Honolulu is on Oahu.
Getting there: Flights from Frankfurt, Munich or Zurich, mostly with a stopover in the western United States.
The diocese of Baltimore, Maryland, released Wednesday, April 24 the names of 23 priests accused after their deaths of child sexual abuse. These names come in addition to the 103 others that had already been communicated to the public by the diocese. All the allegations had been previously reported to the police, for the most part, more than 10 years previously.
In 2002, the diocese was one of the first in the country to make this gesture, revealing the identity of 57 members of the clergy who were the subject of serious accusations. More names have been made public as the allegations became known, mainly in 2018 after a report released by the Pennsylvania attorney general.
“Here in the Diocese of Baltimore there is absolute zero tolerance towards any bishop, priest, lay employee or volunteer credibly accused of child sexual abuse or adult sexual harassment.”Archbishop of Baltimore Bishop William Lori said in a press release accompanying the release of the names. “We are convinced that we have established rigorous standards in terms of accountability and transparency and that we will continue to apply them”, he added.
A contested idea that has proven to be prophetic.
When the first list was made public in September 2002 after the adoption by the American bishops of the “Charter for the protection of children and young people” and the corresponding implementing standards, Baltimore was only the second diocese to take a such measure. Cardinal William Henry Keeler, then Archbishop of Baltimore, had been heavily criticized by local priests and other American bishops, who believed that such a list should not be made public.
“In retrospect, we saw that this was a prophetic gesture. The same priests who were critical 17 years ago now recognize the wisdom of these disclosures and certainly commend Cardinal Keeler for having the foresight to make them ”said Auxiliary Bishop of Baltimore Bishop Adam J. Parker.
He added that the disclosure of additional names was not related to an investigation by the Maryland Attorney General’s Office, but was the initiative of the diocese. “The investigation by the Attorney General is underway and we are cooperating in this investigation”, a this Mgr Parker. “But this is a measure of transparency that goes beyond this investigation. I would like to make it clear that we don’t have to do this post, except that we think it’s the right thing to do ”.

In 2011, Russel Brand asked Katy Perry for a divorce by text after a few months of marriage. Orlando Bloom, he divorced Miranda Kerr in 2013 after three years of marriage and the birth of their son.
The meeting of Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

They finally formalize their relationship with the Cannes Film Festival three months later. The two stars seem inseparable: holidays together, concerts for two …
While Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom seem very accomplices, they announce their breaking in March 2017, against all odds, without giving an explanation. However, a few months later, they find themselves at an Ed Sheeran concert. Rumors are intensifying: the two stars have reconciled and are once again madly in love.

And it was while flying over Los Angeles that Orlando Bloom presented a letter to Katy Perry in which he had written all the reasons why he loved her.
This technique was supposed to keep him concentrated enough for him to discreetly take out the ring. Except that the actor, being stressed, was a little abrupt and broke a bottle of champagne with his elbow! Katy Perry had a laugh while seeing him later present the engagement ring. The singer said yes, before landing on a rooftop where all her family and friends were present to celebrate the good news.
We hope their wedding will be as romantic as their engagement!
